Terms and Conditions

Isle of Arran Micro Campers Last updated: 19/08/2026

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern (A) the hire of camping trailers (“Trailer” or “Equipment”) and (B) purchases made through the online store (“Goods”), both operated by Isle of Arran Micro Campers (“we”, “us”, “our”). By making a booking or placing an order, the customer (“Hirer” / “Customer”, “you”) agrees to be bound by the relevant part of these Terms.

PART A — TRAILER HIRE

1. Definitions

  • “Hire Period” means the period from check-in to check-out of the Trailer, as specified on the Booking Confirmation.
  • “Booking Confirmation” means the written confirmation issued by the Company setting out the dates, price, and specific Trailer hired.
  • “Equipment” means the Trailer and any accessories, awnings, gas bottles, or other items supplied with it.

2. Booking and Payment

2.1 A booking is only confirmed once the Company has issued a Booking Confirmation and received full payment via the accepted payment methods.

2.2 The Hirer must be at least 18 years old, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

2.3 Prices are as stated on the Company’s website or Booking Confirmation at the time of booking and include VAT where applicable. The Company reserves the right to correct pricing errors prior to confirmation.

2.4 The hire fee does not include a security deposit. Instead, the Hirer authorises the Company to charge the payment card or account used for booking for any Damage Costs (as defined in Clause 8) or additional charges arising under these Terms, following the process set out in Clause 8.

3. Cancellation Policy

3.1 This is a strict cancellation policy. Refunds are available only as follows:

Notice given before Hire Period startRefund
28 days or more100% of hire fee
Less than 28 daysNo refund

3.2 Cancellations must be made in writing (email is acceptable) and take effect from the date received.

3.3 No refunds are given for early check-out, late check-in, or unused portions of the Hire Period once it has begun.

3.4 If the Company cancels a booking (e.g. due to Equipment unavailability or force majeure under Clause 12), the Hirer will receive a full refund or, where possible, be offered an alternative Trailer or dates. This is the Hirer’s sole remedy in such circumstances.

3.5 We recommend Hirers take out their own travel/hire cancellation insurance, as the Company does not provide this.

4. Siting, Check-In, and Check-Out

4.1 The Trailer is a static unit, permanently sited by the Company at [site/pitch location]. There is no collection or return of the Trailer by the Hirer, and the Trailer must not be towed, driven, or moved from its pitch at any time.

4.2 The Hirer’s check-in and check-out times are as specified on the Booking Confirmation. The hire fee is payable in full at the time of booking. Late check-out will result in an extra day being billed to the Hirer, unless otherwise agreed with the Company in advance.

4.3 At check-in, the Company will carry out (or provide) an inspection record of the Trailer’s condition. The Hirer should raise any concerns about existing damage at this time.

4.4 The Trailer must not be moved, towed, relocated, or repositioned on the pitch or elsewhere by the Hirer for any reason. Any relocation may only be carried out by the Company. Breach of this clause will be treated as unauthorised use under Clause 5, and any resulting damage, recovery, or repositioning costs will be charged to the Hirer as Damage Costs under Clause 8.

5. Use of the Equipment

5.1 The Hirer agrees to:

  • Use the Trailer only for its intended purpose and in a careful and responsible manner;
  • Comply with all relevant site/campsite rules;
  • Not exceed the maximum occupancy specified for the Trailer;
  • Not sub-hire, lend, or allow use of the Trailer by any third party not named on the Booking Confirmation;
  • Not use the Trailer for any illegal purpose, or remove it from, or attempt to remove it from, the Isle of Arran under any circumstances;
  • Not smoke inside the Trailer under any circumstances (zero smoking policy). Pets are only permitted inside Trailers specifically designated as pet-friendly at the time of booking, and are not permitted in any other Trailer;
  • Not attempt to move, tow, or relocate the Trailer (see Clause 4.4).

5.2 The Hirer is responsible for the security of the Trailer throughout the Hire Period, including using any locks provided.

6. Faults

6.1 The Company will ensure the Trailer is in good working order at the start of the Hire Period.

6.2 Any faults with the Trailer must be reported to the Company immediately using the emergency contact details provided. The Company will use reasonable efforts to repair, replace, or otherwise resolve the issue.

6.3 The Company is not liable for losses arising from faults beyond its control (e.g. component failure not caused by neglect), but will act reasonably to minimise disruption, which may include a pro-rated refund for time the Trailer was unusable.

7. Insurance

7.1 The Company maintains insurance covering the Trailer itself, details of which are available on request.

7.2 The Company’s insurance does not cover the Hirer’s personal belongings kept in or brought to the Trailer. The Hirer is responsible for insuring their own possessions if they wish to have cover for these.

8. Damage, Loss, and Charges After Booking

8.1 As no upfront deposit is taken, any costs for damage, loss, missing items, excessive cleaning, or unauthorised use identified during or after the booking (“Damage Costs”) will be assessed following inspection.

8.2 The Company will inspect the Trailer immediately after each booking, with no delay, and notify the Hirer in writing of any Damage Costs, with supporting evidence (e.g. photos, repair quotes) where possible.

8.3 The Hirer authorises the Company to charge the card/payment method used for the original booking for Damage Costs. Where this is not possible, the Company will issue an invoice payable within 14 days.

8.4 Damage Costs may include, without limitation: repair or replacement costs, professional cleaning fees if returned in an unreasonably dirty condition, replacement of missing accessories, and reasonable loss-of-hire income while the Trailer is out of service for repair.s

8.5 Fair wear and tear is not chargeable. The Hirer is not liable for pre-existing damage recorded at check-in under Clause 4.3.

8.6 The Hirer’s liability for Damage Costs is not capped where damage results from a breach of Clause 5 (misuse, unauthorised use, or illegal use) or from negligence.

8.7 The Hirer’s liability for Cleaning Fees of up-to £125 per day may be billed in the event of a camping trailer being unusable for following bookings due to a breach of Clause 5 (misuse, unauthorised use, or illegal use) or from negligence. and an additional cleaning fee of up-to £125.

9.1 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

9.2 Subject to Clause 9.1, the Company’s total liability to the Hirer arising from the hire shall not exceed the total hire fee paid.

9.3 The Company is not liable for indirect or consequential losses (e.g. loss of holiday enjoyment, lost income, or costs incurred due to trip disruption) except where caused by the Company’s negligence or breach.

9.4 The Hirer is liable to the Company for all Damage Costs and other charges arising from breach of these Terms, as set out in Clause 8.

9.5 Cancellations due to weather or travel disruption (including, without limitation, ferry cancellations or delays) are not refundable. Weather planning and travel arrangements to and from the Isle of Arran are the sole responsibility of the Hirer, and Isle of Arran Micro Campers cannot be held responsible for any losses arising from such disruption.

10. Consumer Rights

10.1 Nothing in these Terms affects the Hirer’s statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 where the Hirer is booking as a consumer.

10.2 If the Hirer booked online or by phone as a consumer, they may have rights under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013; however, please note that hire of goods for a specific period (holiday hire) is generally exempt from the standard 14-day “cooling off” cancellation right, and Clause 3 (Cancellation Policy) applies instead.

PART B — ONLINE STORE (E-COMMERCE)

This Part B governs purchases of physical Goods (camping and trailer accessories, and branded merchandise) through the Company’s online store.

13. Orders and Payment

13.1 An order is placed by the Customer completing checkout on the Company’s website and providing valid payment details. The Company will send an order confirmation by email; this confirms receipt of the order but does not, by itself, guarantee availability of the Goods.

13.2 A contract for the sale of Goods is formed when the Company dispatches the Goods ordered for local delivery.

13.3 Prices are as stated on the website at the time of order and include VAT where applicable. The Company reserves the right to correct pricing or description errors prior to dispatch; if this happens after payment, the Customer will be offered a full refund or the option to proceed at the corrected price.

13.4 Payment is taken in full at the time of order.

13.5 If Goods ordered are unavailable, the Company will notify the Customer as soon as possible and offer a full refund or a substitute item, at the Customer’s choice.

15.1 As a consumer, the Customer has a statutory right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 to cancel an online order within 14 days of receiving the Goods, without giving a reason, except where a statutory exclusion applies (e.g. perishable goods, or personalised/bespoke items made to the Customer’s specification).

15.2 To cancel under Clause 15.1, the Customer must inform the Company in writing (email is acceptable) within the 14-day period. The Goods must then be returned unused, in their original packaging where possible, within 14 days of cancellation. The Customer is responsible for the cost of returning the Goods, unless the Goods are faulty or not as described.

15.3 On receipt of returned Goods in the condition required by Clause 15.2, the Company will refund the price paid (excluding original local delivery charges, if any) within 14 days.

15.4 If Goods arrive damaged, faulty, or not as described, the Customer should notify the Company as soon as reasonably possible. In these circumstances, the Customer is entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund in accordance with the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and the Company will cover any return delivery costs.

15.5 Branded merchandise that has been personalised or customised to order is excluded from the right to cancel under Clause 15.1, unless faulty or not as described.

16. Company Liability (Online Store)

16.1 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

16.2 Subject to Clause 16.1, the Company’s total liability to the Customer in connection with an order shall not exceed the price paid for the Goods in question.

16.3 The Company is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from the purchase or use of Goods, except where caused by the Company’s negligence or breach.

17. Consumer Rights (Online Store)

17.1 Nothing in this Part B affects the Customer’s statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.
